ABOUT

The LeEco Le 1s and the LeEco Le 1s Eco are now officially getting the Marshmallow based eUI 5.8.017s update and this is an offline update so you won’t be receiving the update through OTA. You’ll have to manually update your phone and we have a guide for the same, which you can check in the link given below.

As for what is changed in the UI and the OS, check the change log to know what’s coming in the Marshmallow update on LeEco Le 1s and Eco variant of it.

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Important!!!! Please read this notice carefully before upgrading to Eui 5.8.017S and strictly follow instructions. 

Upgrade Notice

1. To upgrade to EUI5.8.017S (Marshmallow), your phone should be previously upgraded to EUI 5.5.014S.

2. If your phone is already upgraded to EUI 5.5.014S, you can skip this steps and move to Upgrade Guidelines directly. Or else follow the below procedure.

3. Please upgrade your phone to EUI 5.5.014S (Click here to download)

4. Please back up all data in your phone to your PC or any other devices to prevent accidental data lost.

5. Please make sure your phone has enough battery charge or is connected to a charger before upgrade.

6. It will take 15 minutes approximately to complete the upgrade. Please be patient during the process and do not power off your phone.

7. The size of the upgrade pack is 1.5GB, so please make sure that you have at least 2GB free space on your phone before upgrading.

8. Follow Step 2 from Upgrade Guidelines to upgrade your phone to 14S.

9. After upgrading from Android 5.0 to Android 6.0, the system bottom code logic will change and reverting or downgrading to Android 5.0 will not be possible.

Upgrade Guidelines：

1. Users are required to download the upgrade pack via PC or MAC. (Download link)

2. Connect your phone to the PC or MAC, change the upgrade file name to update.zip (no capital letters) and place the zip file under the Root menu of the phone.

3. Go to your phone and tap on System Update, then tap on the top-right button with the 3 vertical dots to see more options and tap on Local update to begin your upgrade.

Q&A：

Q1. How do I place the zip file in the Root menu of the phone SD card?

A：Connect your phone to the PC or MAC, right click on the downloaded zip file and select Copy. Then open up your phone folder from your PC or MAC, right click at any blank area in this folder and select paste. Please make sure you don't put the zip file in any folders.

Q2. Do I need to unzip the file after downloading it? 

A：No, you do not need to unzip it.

Q3. Why does it keep saying that update file cannot be found?

A：Please check the full name of the file, it could named as ‘update.zip.zip’.

Q4. Do I have to download update file from the official site? Can I download it from any other 3rd party site?

A：We strongly recommend you use update file from our official site. To avoid any factors beyond our control, please do not use any update file from any other source.

Q5. How do I back up my data?

A：You can connect your phone to PC or MAC, then use some 3rd party phone manager application to back up your phone.

Reminder & Declaration

1. Please read this notice carefully and follow the steps to upgrade your device.

2. If the user does not follow the given instructions, he will solely be responsible for any kind of physical damage of the device, 3rd party App virus or other reason that causes upgrade failure, hardware or system damage and data lost etc.

ABOUT

The Le 2 is now getting its first OTA update and all Le 2 owners can download the 471MB firmware right now. The change log is quite long, but most of its novelties are squashing old bugs. Some of the new features include options to lock apps with fingerprints, very large fonts, and calendar ringtones.

The Android version remains intact at 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but the eUI jumps from v5.6 to v5.8.

Connect your Le 2 superphone to PC via USB type C
My Computer > Click Le 2 > Phone Storage

Drag and drop the update.zip file to the root directory of the phone.

Safely eject device from your PC

Enable USB Debugging under Developer Options

6. Cut All the files from "image" and paste in "tools"

7. open tools folder > shift + Right Click > then open on CMD hier

8. fastboot flash boot boot.img > Enter

9. fastboot flash system system.img

9.now wait untill flashing completted

10.fastboot reboot > Enter

if you did,t clean the cash in fastboot, power off the device, go in recovery > Pressing Power+Vol Up at same time , after vibrating loos the power then vol up after 2-3 sec. now you landed in recovery, choose cash,date cleaning, and the restart

What is AOSP ?

AOSP is Android as Google publish without other modifications. More or less AOSP is the Nexus devices stock rom without gapps.
Author note: To get a working system I added some changes from CodeAurora Forum and CyanogenMod. I added also 3 non-AOSP features for a better user experience (Advanced Reboot, "Clear All" button in Recents and an option to delete screenshots from the notification area) and I'm NOT going to add something other.

As a result of this, over time the need to circumvent hardware restrictions to install unofficial firmware has lessened as an increasing number of devices are shipped with unlocked or unlockable bootloaders, similar to Nexus series of phones, although usually requiring that users waive their devices' warranties to do so. However, despite manufacturer acceptance, some carriers in the US still require that phones are locked down, frustrating developers and customers.

How to install LineageOS ROM

Step 1. Transfer the downloaded LineageOS & GApps zip, in your Android device.

Step 2. Turn off / Switch your device & Boot into Recovery mode. (TWRP recommended)

Step 4. Do not forget to perform a nandroid backup. Goto backup option in TWRP and select all the partitions including System, Data, Boot and swipe right to backup.

Step 5. After performing the ROM backup, go back to the TWRP main menu and tap the wipe button.

Step 6. Then, select Advanced Wipe, as well as Dalvik Cache, System, Data, and Cache (Don’t select Internal storage)

How to perform Complete wipe in TWRP recovery

Step 7. Swipe to confirm. Wait for the wiping process to complete.

Step 8. Go to TWRP main menu & click on “Install” option.

Step 9. Locate the LineageOS downloaded zip file & tap on it. Now swipe to Install the ROM.

Step 10. Once the installation process is finished successfully, Again Go to TWRP Main menu, Tap on Install & locate the GApps zip file. Swipe to install GApps Package.

Step 11. From recovery select “reboot” and enjoy.

And that’s it. I hope now you have a clear understanding of what Lineage OS is and how you can download it for your device. To conclude this in the least possible words; Lineage is the continuation of CyanongenMod. CyanogenMod is officially dead, and users will not be receiving any future updates or OTA. Lineage OS, the successor of CyanogenMod, will continue to receive future updates and build releases. Lineage is still in the development process, and it may take some time for the team to set-up a stable camp for their releases, although you can find new versions here.
